if you want to change up the project however you want in your eyes (of your own host) THEN GO AHEAD! don't let me control how you should work on your own version of this project. (+ i don't even care for this project anymore anyways)
if i did go back to this, i would ONLY be a client developer for this project NOTHING MORE!!!
